FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have questions about Healing Transitions? Our FAQ section has answers to common questions about our programs, services, eligibility, donations, volunteering, and more. Take a look through the FAQs to learn more about what we do, what to expect, and how you can be part of the Healing Transitions community.

Healing Transitions offers five main services: (1) Non-Medical Detox Center, (2) Long-Term Recovery Program, (3) Emergency Drop-In Shelter, (4) Community Programs, and (5) Recovery Support Services. Each department has its own programming and unique services and we encourage you to visit our Services page to learn more about their offerings.

The eligibility requirements depend on the service needed. For the Emergency Drop-In Shelter, anyone experiencing homelessness is eligible, though availability is first come, first served. For the long-term recovery program, individuals must (1) have a substance use disorder, (2) be at least 18 years of age, and (3) be a Wake County resident. Individuals wishing to use the Non-Medical Detox Center must undergo a pre-screening to determine if they can safely detox without medical support.

No. All services at Healing Transitions are offered at no-cost.

The length of the long-term recovery program varies. The program is designed to be self-paced with certain benchmarks such as meetings attended which must be completed in order to progress forward. Typically, the long-term recovery program is completed within 9-12 months.

Loved ones are welcome to stay in touch with (1) visits to campus, (2) phone calls, and (3) physical mail. However, each method is limited with restrictions easing as participants progress through the program. We encourage you to visit the Frequently Asked Questions packet (linked at the bottom of this page) for the full details of staying in touch with your loved one.

There are multiple ways to support the mission of Healing Transitions. We welcome one-time donations, and those who wish to give monthly are encouraged to join our ChangeMakers program. For those looking to make a lasting impact, gifts to our Endowment help provide support for generations to come. Gently used items and furniture can be donated to our thrift store, Recovered Treasures, where 100% of proceeds benefit Healing Transitions. We also welcome individual and group volunteers year-round. Finally, we encourage you to check out our calendar of events for opportunities to get involved and experience our mission firsthand!
