Board of Directors
Neil Gray is the Chief Executive Officer of JDAVIS Architects, a multidisciplinary design firm known for its commitment to place, community, and thoughtful collaboration. Since the firm’s early years, Neil has helped shape its direction and culture, guiding JDAVIS as it grew from a Raleigh-based practice into a regional design leader with projects spanning from New Jersey to Florida and everywhere along the eastern seaboard.
Neil has played a pivotal role in shaping the built environment of Downtown Raleigh. His leadership and design insight have contributed to many of the city’s most transformative projects — from early urban infill and multifamily developments to high-rise towers like FNB Tower and Charter Square. Today, JDAVIS remains deeply invested in the continued evolution of Downtown Raleigh, maintaining a strong presence in its urban core and an unwavering commitment to its future.
Neil’s impact extends well beyond architecture. He served on the Board of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance for five years, including one term as Board Chair, where he championed efforts to cultivate a more vibrant, inclusive, and economically resilient downtown. He also volunteers with Oak City Cares, a nonprofit that serves the city’s unhoused population through coordinated care and compassionate outreach — reflecting his belief that strong communities are built through empathy and shared responsibility.
Under Neil’s leadership, JDAVIS has become a trusted partner in delivering affordable and supportive housing. The firm’s portfolio includes a range of purpose-built developments that blend design innovation with economic sensitivity. Most recently, JDAVIS completed King’s Ridge for CASA, a supportive housing community that exemplifies the firm’s commitment to designing with dignity, purpose, and long-term impact.
Neil leads with clarity, humility, and a belief that great design is as much about people as it is about place. His work — and his approach — continues to reinforce JDAVIS’ role as a civic-minded design partner committed to building better futures for the communities we serve.
