The Fred Barber Legacy of Service Recognition began in 2016 as a way to honor the service ethic embodied by Fred Barber, one of the founders of The Healing Place of Wake County. Fred gave of his time, talents, and resources in a variety of capacities; including serving on various nonprofit boards (Raleigh Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, The Healing Place of Wake County), teaching weekly Recovery Dynamics® classes, mentoring countless individuals, and helping people find housing and employment.
