The Future is Positive – Kristen’s Story

“Before coming to Healing Transitions, I drank 24 hours a day, seven days a week for about two years. I would drink so much that I would blackout multiple times each day. After a lot of prayer and online research of other recovery programs by my family, we found HT, and I’ve been here since the beginning of December.

Going through the program has been amazing. You don’t realize how much you’ve changed until you look back at where your life was beforehand. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been here for nine months! Working in the garden for three months was incredibly rewarding for me, and helped me as I processed my alcoholism and grief. It was very therapeutic.

The biggest takeaway I’ve learned while being here is that addiction isn’t a moral failure. It’s a disease that I can put into remission through abstinence and working the recovery program. I feel incredibly positive about what the future holds, and can’t wait until I silver chip and get to return to the community as a person in recovery!” – Kristen B., HT Participant

Join Healing Transitions for National Recovery Month as we try to raise $100,000 to give 90 people their first month in recovery! On September 24, we will cap off the month with a Day of Giving, where an anonymous donor has generously offered a $25,000 day-of-giving match! This means the impact of your gift on the 24th will be doubled dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000! Find out how you can help out HERE!
