A NEW LIFE AWAITS IN RECOVERY
Every day, our community’s most vulnerable neighbors find the courage to walk through our open doors. Immersed in a supportive environment and surrounded by a community of peers — these courageous individuals see recovery in action and are inspired to believe in themselves. Before long, they come to believe recovery is possible!
With a recovery village by their side, participants start to discover the freedom that comes with recovery, and hope is ignited.
Your support ensures that more people can find hope and belief at Healing Transitions while experiencing the countless possibilities recovery has to offer. By showing someone you believe in them today, your contribution has the power to help save a life tomorrow.
A STATE OF CRISIS FOR WAKE COUNTY AND NORTH CAROLINA
Since we opened our doors in 2001, Wake County has experienced a 325% increase in the rate of overdose deaths. During this same period, more than 37,000 North Carolinians have lost their lives to drug overdose — in large part due to the opioid crisis and the introduction of fentanyl into the market. To put this into perspective, over the past 23 years, the number of lives tragically lost in our state is roughly equivalent to the entire population of Garner (our neighboring city).

It is for these reasons (and many others) that our program allows for those who are struggling with addiction to stay as long as they need (typically between 12-18 months) and to return as many times as it takes. This unique approach provides participants with the necessary time and space to pave their own journeys to recovery, offering a safe ‘harbor’ to regain and reclaim hope for better days ahead. Ultimately, our approach ensures that belief develops naturally, rather than being forced overnight. Because belief takes time. One day at a time.
Your investment in Healing Transitions propels a culture of peer-based recovery that surrounds our participants with the power of community, inspiration, and self-belief. In large part, this is thanks to our dedicated staff — the majority of whom are alumni and in recovery themselves. When you offer this glimmer of hope, you ignite the ripple effect of recovery and you save lives. Lives like Jenn’s.
BELIEVING IN JENN
When participants walk through our doors, they are embraced by a community of allies at every stage of their recovery journey. This is Jenn’s story of belief because others believed in her.
Jenn is Silver Chip Alumni #205. Before recovery, she built her life around her love for animals, working as an ER and surgery veterinary technician. But behind her professional facade, her personal life was crumbling. “It was horrible,” she recalls, reflecting on the years lost to addiction. Heroin, crack, and whatever else she could find had taken over her life, and she was on the brink of losing everything that mattered. Her life had spiraled to a dangerous low.
For over 20 years, drugs ruled her life. The consequences piled up — she lost her children, her self-respect, and, in her words, her soul. But with the support of people believing in Jenn like her parents, who never gave up on her, and Mary Bullock, one of her mentors, she pushed through.
