Herbert Barbee Jr. was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and raised in the nearby town of Cary. After graduating from high school, he attended NC A&T State University as an Art Design major. Upon leaving school, he did a four-year tour of duty in the United States Navy.

He entered The Healing Place of Wake County in October of 2004 to address substance abuse issues. He is a proud alumni and is Silver Chipper #268. Now, he gives back to Healing Transitions as a board member. Herb has been doing service work in the recovery community for over 16 years!
