Listen in as we talk to Christine Wagner and Cris Clemmons, members of the NC State Extension Master Gardener Program, who have been volunteering at Healing Transitions for 10 years. They visit both campuses to tend to the gardens, working hands-on with participants and teaching them how to maintain a garden year-round and utilize compost. Oftentimes, the produce grown in these gardens is used in our kitchen to prepare meals for participants.

“We work side by side with participants for that one hour, giving them tasks for the week. Some have prior gardening experience, which is great, but for others, they’re learning new things and trying foods they’ve never tasted before. It’s a great fit for our program because our objective is to get out into the community.”
