Family is everything, and at Healing Transitions, we’re surrounded by an incredible one! That’s because our mission values the beautiful intersection between:

      • our community: the place we call “home” that’s committed to long-term recovery
      • our participants: the courageous ones working hard at recovery side-by-side
      • our staff: the heroic people on the front lines providing hope for the hopeless
      • our family group: the devoted families walking the journey with their loved ones
      • our village: you, our faithful supporters, who always show up and step up

This is our family. And today, our family needs your help. Addiction is not just a “me” disease. When one family member suffers, the entire family does too, because addiction impacts everyone and everything it touches, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. And with addiction rates at an all-time high, families are hurting now more than ever. But thankfully, destruction is not the end of the story, because there is hope in recovery.

The recovery of one unleashes a ripple effect that has the power to transform entire communities! We call this ripple effect – Family Strong. And Family Strong takes us all!

Join us over the next 30 days as we set out to raise $75,000 to provide one week of recovery services for 195 sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers, and mothers. Because family doesn’t quit. And neither will we.

Healing Transitions has never tiptoed around the disease of addiction. We’ve faced it head-on for the last 20+ years, and we’re not stopping now, especially with overdose rates at an all-time high and an opioid and fentanyl crisis that’s ravishing our community. According to both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, in 2023 alone…

      • fatal overdoses peaked above 112,000 for the first time
      • drug overdoses led the cause of death for Americans ages 18-45

Furthermore, the
negative effects of addiction on a community can cause a wide range of intense interpersonal stressors including emotional distress, relational strain, erosion of trust, increase in conflict, economic burden, and physical stress. These stats are alarming and warrant urgency! Together, we can and will face this crisis head-on!

At Healing Transitions, we provide life-saving recovery services, including a long-term recovery program, a non-medical detox, an emergency shelter, and family support.

These services are critical to all we do, and they’re the catalyst that makes Family Strong. Trajectories shift as families strengthen. And since families are the fabric of our communities, we all benefit when people recover! So, whatever brings them here, and however long they’re willing to stay, our doors are always open, as many times as it takes.

We attribute our program’s success to our unique peer-to-peer model. And experience has taught us that family members need a similar type of hands-on support. Because they’re going through recovery too. That’s why Healing Transitions offers a weekly Family Support Group to provide belonging, education, vital resources, and support for families whose lives have been upended by the tornado of addiction. Meet Rhonda…

Many people come to Healing Transitions to find recovery. Rhonda Spence came to help her son as he sought freedom from addiction. Ultimately, she found her own recovery too.

“I started coming to Family Group when my son was struggling with addiction for the first time. Eventually, I became certified as an alcohol and drug counselor because it seemed like there wasn’t much help for families caught in the middle of their loved one’s addiction. Everyone needs help, but many struggle alone.”
