A Visionary Solution
Recovery transforms lives, families, and communities. Addiction impacts millions, but the power of recovery offers hope, healing, and renewed purpose. In Wake County, where significant growth brings both opportunities and challenges, the need for accessible, long-term recovery support remains essential.
Established in 2008, the Healing Transitions Endowment is a lasting commitment to ensure anyone seeking recovery has the necessary resources and support to reclaim their lives. By investing in sustained recovery efforts, we strengthen individuals, reunite families, and build a healthier, more resilient community for generations to come.
OUR MISSION
To sustain long-term recovery by providing both financial sustainability to Healing Transitions and an investment fund to support the success of its alumni and the broader recovery community.
OUR VISION
To empower Healing Transitions and the broader recovery community to realize their greatest potential (through a growing investment, alumni success, and future innovation).
OUR COMMITMENT
To ensure that on-demand, life-saving recovery services are always available to Wake County’s homeless, uninsured, and underserved neighbors.
How It Works
The Healing Transitions Endowment is a fund of assets that is professionally managed by CAPTRUST to foster sustained growth. The annual earnings generated from the investments serve as a safety net to help offset Healing Transitions’ annual operating costs while also providing long-term operational support and dependability to the organization. Additionally, the earnings serve as a means to invest in program alumni and former participants as well as the broader recovery community.
The Healing Transitions Endowment consists primarily of unrestricted gifts, allowing for maximum spending flexibility. In the rare occasion that a donor requests their gift be restricted to a specific project, facility, or the like, the request will undergo a formal review process by our Board of Trustees to determine whether or not the gift can be accepted.
Withdrawals are managed and approved by the Healing Transitions Board of Trustees and are generally limited to 3% of total earnings per year. The remaining assets are preserved for continued financial growth, and the principle (or original gift) is maintained intact to ensure long-term sustained support for the organization’s recovery mission.
Approved items for spending include, but are not limited to, Healing Transitions operational emergencies, alumni emergencies and/or seed-funding opportunities, and visionary projects related to recovery.
All requests for funding will undergo a formal application, review, and approval process by the Healing Transitions Board of Trustees and are primarily reserved for Healing Transitions alumni and former program participants (and at times the larger recovery community).
The benefits of growing a healthy and robust endowment are tenfold. Not only does it guarantee a reliable source of funding for Healing Transitions during economic uncertainty, but it also empowers Healing Transitions to expand community support, develop new programs, and launch visionary projects. By securing financial stability, Healing Transitions can focus on long-term planning and impact while providing donors with a tax-deductible means of leaving a lasting legacy of recovery support.
